My poems come to me as an enigma, an uninvited but welcome gatecrasher at the party that is imagination. They slip into my dreams, demanding consummation, struggling to be born. Shadow images yearning for the light of recognition. Sometimes the words flow like a torrent, as they dance and caper from fingertips to page. Sometimes the words lay there flacid and dying, stillborn, apaphetic without companionship or comprehension. Always they surprise me as they evoke memories and feelings that I had thought forever lost.
